Zivilisation

Für ein paar Tage bin ich nun nach vier Wochen Bush in die Zivilisation zurück gekehrt. Duschen ist das erste, was man draussen vermisst und was selbstverständlcih als erstes gründlich nach geholt wird. Nicht dass ich im Bush keine Dusche habe, aber bei wenigen Graden über Null ist das draussen schon eher ein notwendiges Übel denn ein Vergnügen. Wieder mal im Restaurant an einem sauberen Tisch zu essen und auf die Toilette zu gehen ohne vorher ein Loch ausgraben zu müssen, das sind die angenehmen Kleinigkeiten die die Zivilisation zu bieten hat. Allerdings herrscht auch gleich wieder Stress, wie einkaufen, Post erledigen, usw.

After having spend 4 weeks out in the bush, I made it back to civilization for a few days. The shower is what you actually miss most when you’re out there. Of course, that was the first thing I did quite extensively at first. Not that I didn’t have a shower in the bush, but with temperatures slightly above the freezing point it’s more like a necessity than a pleasure. What a feeling to eat from a clean table at a restaurant or to go to toilette without having to dig a hole – these are the pleasant odds and ends of civilization. The downside, though, is the civilization comes with stress, like shopping, paperwork, mail, etc.
